Volunteer Information

Volunteers are needed for the 109th NAACP Annual Convention in San Antonio, Texas from July 12 to July 18, 2018.

We expect nearly 8,000 attendees to join us from July 14 thru 18. With your help, we will greet our guest with a “GRAND” welcome! Your job as a volunteer will be most important. They will be your guest. Help the NAACP ensure its attendees have a great experience and make wonderful memories in San Antonio!

Volunteer Areas


Volunteers will greet delegates and special guests arriving at the airport upon arrival and provide information as necessary. Volunteers are needed from Thursday, July 12 through Sunday, July 15.

Volunteers are needed each day and all should be knowledgeable about the community and able to answer general questions visitors may have. This is our first year, requesting airport volunteers. If we do not have enough volunteers, we will not move forward with this area of work.


Volunteers are needed to assist in the monitoring and direction of registration lines.

  • Friday, July 13, 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday, July 14, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Sunday, July 15, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
  • Monday, July 16, 9:00 am – 6:00 pm

Approximately twenty (20) volunteers are needed per 4 hour shift.


At least fifty (50) volunteers are needed to assemble kits for delegate registration on Thursday, July 12. Volunteers should:

    1. Have the ability to lift heavy boxes
    2. Set-up where needed with instructions from Conference Staff
    3. Work a minimum of four (4) hours per shift
    4. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes
    5. Other assignments as determined by National Staff


A pool of twenty (20) volunteers is needed from Saturday, July 14 through Tuesday, July 17 to assist with The NAACP Experience.

The 49th NAACP Experience requires ten (10) volunteers to cover each of the two daily time slots (12 pm- 4 pm and 4 pm- 7 pm).

Volunteers do not have to commit to each day, but may commit as much time as they desire.
